Florida East Coast Railway/Port of Miami

To build relationships and encourage influential reporters to visit the Port of Miami and Florida East Coast Railway (FEC), G&S identified compelling business issues and presented a robust pitch about the regional impact of the Panama Canal expansion. During the two-day event, reporters were fully immersed in the experience, riding FEC’s vintage train cars and viewing the port’s harbor aboard a pilot boat that took them around the area to be dredged deeper to accommodate mega-ships. The biggest win was a cover story for the Journal of Commerce, highly regarded by the shipping industry as the “final word” on port logistics. It was the first time that the JOC had visited the Port of Miami, and the event resulted in a cover story. The G&S media tour opened the industry’s eyes to Port of Miami’s potential for increased cargo business.
